Acupuncture

What is Acupuncture?

accupuncture1Our bodies have an inherent capability for self-healing. Unfortunately, when we are under times of prolonged stress, have poor diet/exercise routines, or when we experience trauma etc., our body systems fall out of balance and develop ‘blockages in energy pathways’. This ‘blockage of energy flow’ in turn interferes with our inherent capability to heal ourselves. Using acupuncture, which is the insertion of fine thread-like needles in certain (acu) points on the body, we can open the channels to allow the energy to flow properly again, thus allowing the body to regain balance and ‘heal itself’.

How Can Acupuncture Help Me?

Acupuncture is suitable for the treatment of a wide range of health disorders.

Using Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnostic principles and pattern identification, the body can be examined as a whole, and treatment programs can be individualized according to the person, not the ‘disease’.

Acupuncture is very useful for the treatment of any pain or stress related issue.

Specifically, acupuncture is indicated for the treatment of;

  1. Insomnia
  2. Anxiety
  3. Emotional imbalances
  4. Headache/migraine
  5. Digestive disorders
  6. High blood pressure
  7. Infertility
  8. Post-concussion symptoms
  9. Bell’s Palsy
  1. Sinusitis
  2. Rhinitis
  3. Cold/flu symptoms
  4. Residual congestion from colds/flu
  5. Low immune function
  6. PMS
  7. Vertigo
  8. Tinnitus
  9. TMJ
  1. Fibromyalgia
  2. Back pain
  3. Sciatica
  4. Neck pain/stiffness
  5. Carpal tunnel
  6. Tendonitis
  7. Arthritis
  8. Frozen shoulder
  9. Residual pain from shingles

Preventatively:

The beauty of Acupuncture and Chinese medicine is that one does not need to have a ‘concrete western diagnoses’ of the problem before treatment can begin. Often, there are subtle signs and symptoms indicating disharmony in our bodies that occur long before a
‘western diagnosis’ can be made. Acupuncture can address these signs and symptoms at an early stage, thus preventing the  continuation of the disease process.
